Average movie. I saw this dubbed in hindi and have same opinion as others that if you want to focus on realism, you have to give up on characters emotions and expressions. The cast was awful because there is no association with sound and image. Music is awful and its type of average movie that if you don't have anything to do then watch on laptop and dont waste money. Do not expect your kids to fall in love with this movie.

I had such high hopes for this movie and it didn't disappoint! Disney has once again gone above and beyond to show all of us the magic. Not just in the impeccable graphics and perfect re creation of one of our most beloved tales of all times but the magic of bringing us all together as one!

This movie was beautifully done. The animals and landscapes were so pretty and the story is a classic. The voice acting was good, though a bit less than in the original, animated version. I was glad JEJ returned for the voice of Mufasa - I can’t imagine being satisfied with anyone else in that role. Rafiki will always be my favorite character. The music was good.

Jon Favreau’s take on this childhood classic does not stray much from the original in terms of script or screenplay. To the uninitiated, The Lion King is the story of the lion prince Simba (voiced by JD McCrary), born to King Mufasa (James Earl Jones) and Queen Sarabi (Alfre Woodard) of Pride Rock. Little Simba cannot wait to grow up and become King one day but the throne is also coveted by his uncle Scar (Chiwetel Ejiofor), who is willing to go to any lengths to become King himself. He makes a deal with the hyenas and manages to usurp the throne by killing Mufasa. Simba escapes from Pride Rock before the hyenas try to kill him on Scar’s orders. After growing up with the meerkat Timon (Billy Eichner) and warthog Pumbaa (Seth Rogen), a fully grown Simba (now voiced by Donald Glover) returns to fulfill his destiny.Children (and adults) who have not seen The Lion King before are bound to love this film. This Hamlet-like narrative first stole hearts in 1994 and engages us even today. Tales of what it takes to be a true king and leader do not get old, especially since we do not see much of it in real life nowadays. Simba’s transformation from a boisterous little cub to a worthy king is a treat to watch in live-action. Pride Rock and all the lands around it are beautifully depicted and the cute and cuddly creatures steal your hearts right from the start. It’s amazing to watch a film that does not have a single human being in it much like director Jon Favreau’s previous live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book that only had one human character. Every character in The Lion King has a unique personality, be it the cantankerous Zazu (voiced by John Oliver), the highly relatable Timon, or the self-deprecating Pumbaa. Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen steal the show in the second half of the movie and add a great dose of humor when the narrative gets serious. Even with an added scene and song for Nala, there’s not much for Beyoncé to do other than impress the audience with the beautiful voice that has made her so famous. One of the songs that deserve special mention is “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” where the choreography is too cute to miss.

It took me back to my childhood memories. The story is same with very little change from the old animated(cartoon) movie. The conversation of cartoon type animated movie to a real type animation and that too of this high quality is a very difficult task and they have done that very well. I didn't liked the music but small children were enjoying it very much. Overall a must watch for all ages.

What a movie !!! Graphics is so good that many times I forget that the characters are been made through vfx , characters looks totally real. The movie starts with the bright sun rising up on a fine morning and the entire forest rushing towards pride rock to witness their new born king SIMBA. The scene where Mufasa explains the MEANING OF THE STARS in the night sky will definitely move you to tears. Definitely it's a must watch movie.

Lion King Movie has good visuals but there is nothing attractive in terms of the story. Jon fevru is trying to impress the kids with some funny characters. If you are a fan of jungle book and Lion King comics watch it for remembering those past childhood days memories. If you compare it with previous jungle book movie this movie will be a bit disappointing. However one thing is for sure you will fall in love with Simba again.

What makes a remake film that too an animated film very successful and chart buster? The answer is available in Lion King. Disney's Lion King is the result of modern techniques in film making, combining VR with Photorealistic Computer graphics to give a real life feeling. A common man will not find it as a cartoon character but view it as real story of animals and birds living in jungle scenario. Jon Favreau and his team bring into life the tale of Simba, the Cub, his father Mufasa, his mother, scheming evil uncle Scar, Simba's best friend Nala very beautifully and enjoyably too. The theatre audience roars along with the characters when they sing, dance and laugh with every feeling and virtually travel with them. The dialogues are simple and songs are lovely. " Circle of Life" as explained by Mufasa to Simba, "Hakuna matata" ('no worries' in Swahili) will be remembered for a long time by the children who watch the film. The voice for the characters are given by famous people like Donald Glover, Beyonce Knowles Carter, James Earl Jones and others. Photography, Special effects and music are brilliant. The songs, "Spirit", "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", "He Lives in You" and more songs are echoing in the theatre. The story is simple and not given by me as spoiler except to state how a scheming uncle kills his brother, drives out young cub who later realises his responsibilities return back to claim his rightful position. Nothing to stop you from enjoying the film with family in 3D environment and theatrical surround sound. Go and enjoy with Children! They will love it and thank you for taking them!

Anyone asked why we needed a new version of The Lion King only has to look as far as the film's stunning opening sequence to reconsider that question. Herds of animals- zebras, elephants, antelope stride across the screen majestically against a wide African vista in what appears to be footage culled from a wildlife documentary....except that it's not.

We are in the age of remakes of animated classics and it is the turn of The Lion King and I thought this was a fantastic representation of a classic film, it is not a replacement for the original film but a brilliant film to go alongside it. The premise of the film sees new heir to the throne of the Animal Kingdom Simba have to grow up and overcome the troubles of his nefarious uncle Scar. We see two versions of Simba and both are great, the child version of Simba really does a great job at being innocent and delivering a heartfelt performance. Donald Glover playing the adult version also really worked and he nailed the character and really provided a great voice acting performance. In my opinion a real highlight of this film is the performance of Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, he has such a presence about the role in this film. Scar is a great character and Ejiofor really bought all the complexity of the character out and made him a very memorable villain. Another big highlight of the film is the fantastic chemistry between Billy Eichner & Seth Rogen as Timon & Pumbaa, they are so funny in the film and provide a great counter in this film from some of the draker moments in the film. Alfre Woodard, Beyonce, John Oliver & James Earl Jones all do great jobs and emphasise why this is one of the best casts assembled for any movie. The story is goof, delivering the mix of drama and humour that would be expected in this film, however, like the majority of these Disney rermakes the film is quite formulaic and it is noticeable in this film that it is very similar to the original film. The script is great, this film for me does a really good job, it does a great job of blending a fun film with great dramatic moments in it. The style is amazing in this film, visually it looks stunning with some of the best CGI that you are gonna see in any film around, plus the use of colour is really important in this film and the story of the film. All the songs are back from the original and they are sung excellently by the cast. Overall I am a fan of thise remakes from Disney and The Lion King is a fantastic family film that should be seen by all members of the family.

'The Lion King' is a good movie but does not live up to the great expectations it was brought with. Superb but predictable sequences. Excellent lessons of 'Leadership' and 'humanity' from the Lion King to his crown prince Simba, who has an opportunity to live them and get practically trained to become a true all-caring and all-inspiring Leader. The ups and downs, the sabotages and so on. A whole lot of it gets predictable. The picturization is superb and the trot together of all animals is worth watching.

The Lion King is a great film. Along with a great story (inspired by William Shakespeare's Hamlet), terrific animation and an all star cast of voices, there are the lessons that are learned from this film (despite being a little rough for the younger children) like responsibility and honor. I rank this animated film among the great films I have ever seen. It was part of my childhood and it is a film experience I will never forget. And hopefully, you won't either.

The best Disney animated film ever...This film had it all, it was funny, emotional, had family drama, and above all, great animation and songs! My personal favorite character is Rafiki, the Baboon! I still cant forget the line he says to Simbe, "Past can hurt, but as I see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it!" it is so true! i loved Zazu's weirdness, and shenzi's humor, above all, i loved Pumba's innocence and Timon's intelligence! In short, i found the film the best film ever... The voice cast is also great. Mathew did complete justice to Simba, and what can I say about Mufasa, He is the best King, and dad anyone can ever get! The movie is not meant for kids, its meant to teach every adult a lesson...to find our place in the great "Circle Of Life

The best visual and audio treat in a very long time, brought together in a story many of us grew up with. By largely keeping the soundtrack and story true to the original the magic has been retained and then exponentially enhanced by the awesome true to life 3D rendering and magnificent casting for the vistas and characters respectively. I went to the movie expecting to be charmed and found myself cheering and laughing and thoroughly enjoying this absolutely terrific treat from Disney along with the kids and other adults in the theater! I recommend this one!!!

The movie is pretty much like the original animated movie. Where the similarity in the plot takes away any suspense, the songs throw you back to your childhood, when 'Akuna Matata' became your Mantra. It's amazing to see your beloved characters in love action. I thought its impossible for live action movie to be as funny as animated, but I stand corrected. I realize it's possible to love Timon and Pumba more. The shots of the Serengeti were breathtaking, I would go again just for them.

Disney’s latest effort in its quest to remake many of its animated classics. This particular “Circle of Life” has taken 25 years to complete its rotation, and now Simba, Mufasa and the once-ubiquitous songs of Elton John and Tim Rice are back again. The story should be familiar to anyone over the age of 8, especially anyone who had both a young child and a VCR back in the 1990s. Young cub Simba (Donald Glover) is cast out of his homeland after his power-hungry uncle (Chiwetel Ejiofor) has Simba’s father, Mufasa (James Earl Jones, reprising his role from the 1994 film), killed. What is new is this film’s striking CGI animation style. Director Jon Favreau again deploys the same photo-realistic process used in his 2016 hit “The Jungle Book,” and the results are astonishing. Viewers who show up late will be forgiven for thinking they’ve wandered into a showing of “Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom.” Each hair and whisker on a mandrill’s face is defined. Every creature moves with seeming weight and realism, every landscape looks straight off a postcard. The African night sky is rendered so realistically that even Neil deGrasse Tyson won’t take to Twitter to nitpick. null 37 Young Simba Walt Disney Co./Everett Collection And maybe the visuals alone are enough to justify the remake. Because although this version is some 30 minutes longer than its predecessor, anyone looking for new story twists or, say, an inspiring backstory for the antelope that gets eaten will probably leave disappointed. Unless you’ve memorized the original, it will likely be difficult to spot what was added to fill out those extra minutes. If anything, more could have been cut, as “The Lion King” drags a bit early on, when it’s all sober lesson-imparting and ceremony. Things pick up when Simba joins up with Pumbaa (Seth Rogen), a gassy warthog, and Timon (Billy Eichner), a quippy meerkat. Eichner earns the most laughs by far (he also sings a bit), and his caffeinated, over-the-top delivery is perfectly suited for voice work.

2019’s The Lion King is a ‘live action’ remake of the 1994 original animation flick which went on to become an iconic film for all ages. Those who have watched the original Lion King will vouch for its strong emotional connect, rousing, heartbreaking moments that left a lasting impression and of course the legendary soundtrack and background score. So does the 2019 version of Lion King match up? (In India, the film is releasing in four languages – English and also dubbed in Hindi, Tamil and Telegu.) The big draw of course of the Hindi dubbed version is actor Shah Rukh Khan as Mufasa and Aryan Khan as Simba. The father and son duo had earlier lent their voices to the Hindi dubbed version of The Incredibles in 2004. 2019’s Lion King is a visual extravaganza to savor. Everything you see on screen is etched out with spellbinding detailing and the visual finesse gives way to near perfection. Some scenes especially ones with the fire flies in the night, open starlit skies and expansive views of the forest look stunning. Where the visual appeal falls short is in the expressions and emotions on the faces, especially the eyes of the animals which the animated version had got so right. So while you do feel sad when Mufasa is killed, you are not particularly moved to tears like with the original. And while Scar looks evil, he is not menacing. Also though the film is thirty minutes lengthier it pretty much remains an almost scene by scene copy of the 1994 version, losing its potential to surprise and intrigue further. However, the principal voice cast is a delight – Shah Rukh Khan as Mufasa is captivating from the word go, Aryan Khan shines as the young Simba – capturing every emotion perfectly. The scene where Simba speaks to his father’s reflection in the water, with Mufasa’s voice emanating from the sky stands out as a whole – visually and otherwise. Ashish Vidyarthi as Scar is particularly good, his voice adding the required dimension to the character.Perhaps to contextualize andgive it a local flavor Pumbaa (Sanjay Mishra) and Timon (Shreyas Talpade) speak in tapori hindi here – so there is a generous sprinkling of ‘Bhai’ ‘Jhakaas’ ‘ Apun’ ‘Bindass’. And the gang of hyenas speak in Bhojpuri. While it may connect with the audience and elucidate some laughs, it robs the classic film of some of its original flavor. Shreya Ghosal, Arman Malik and Sunayna Sarkar do a fine job with the Hindi renditions of the soundtrack. But for those who have reveled in the original 'Circle of Life', 'Can you feel the Love tonight' and 'Hakuna Matata' it may not match up totally. The background score by Hans Zimmer is one of the high points of the film. For those who haven’t seen the original, 'The Lion King' (2019) is certainly worth a watch for its gorgeous visuals and technical genius and one’s catching it in Hindi will have Shah Rukh Khan and Aryan Khan adding their spark.

Highly recommend seeing the re-imagined version of The Lion King! It was beautiful and was a really good tribute to our childhood favorite. I was so impressed with how much justice, respect and attention to detail they paid to the original movie...especially the songs! They were sung so very, very similar yet re-freshed! They also picked such perfect vocal choices for both the songs & the voices of the characters I thought. Even the likenesses of most of the characters were pretty much on point...there were a few small scenes/songs they left out that I wish they kept in but only very small minor ones really. I do feel that this one is a bit more of a "matured" version for the 80's - 90's kids who are now adults or even the adults who haven't seen the original...as while it did provide some amounts of comedy, it felt a little more focused on the touching, powerful and heart warming side and just a little less funny than the original. So not as much for the kids this time. Apart from that I was so moved & really loved it!

The story is remake to the animation flick Lion King taken back in the 90s. All the animals along with the Sarabi and King Musafa will be happy on the birth of royal lion cub Simba. Feeling guilty for the cause of his fathers death, simba runs away from the forest. The movie is amazing and has taken the every aspect of the original lion king. Though the movie is as same as animated original lion king, this is slightly more time than the animated film. After running away from the forest, what are the problems faced by simba and how did it meet timon and pumba and later on what is going to happen is to be watched on the screen. This is a definitely watchable movie for all the kids and the ones love fiction kinda stories.

Disney's remake of The Lion King is the clear ruler of the box office this weekend, but why are the reviews so mixed? Directed by Jon Favreau (who previously helmed the live-action remake of The Jungle Book), The Lion King is "live-action" in the sense that the lions have been made to look photo-realistic - but many reviewers feel that the original's 2D animation offered more scope for emotion and creativity. The Lion King is not a shot-for-shot remake, so much as a near scene-for-scene remake. There are changes, new songs and additions to pad out the run time, since the original film ran only 88 minutes. The changes in the film come off as arbitrary. They don’t improve the experience much in any way or really add some sort of breakthrough new achievement. In terms of changes made to the film, it appears Favreau struggled with how to create a better atmosphere and lighting setups for the nighttime scenes. Many of the scenes that previously took place in dark or nighttime environments are brightly lit in the middle of the day. “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” takes place with Simba and Nala romping around in brightly-lit daytime. Where’s that low-lit romantic ambiance? This is extended to the darker version of Pride Rock controlled by Scar. Even Scar’s perversion of Simba’s lush and vibrant homeland has lost a great deal of its dark menace. Overall rating 5/5 Parental Guidance : not required

If you‘re one of the people who watched The Lion King as a kid and cried when Mufasa died, don’t be disappointed with the movie if you don’t tear up this time on same scene. We’ve grown up, life has taken a toll, emotions aren’t as pure now, they’ve worn out. Movie is still same. It doesn’t seem right to describe this as "live action", when the visuals were created in the London offices of visual effects wizards MPC. Whatever its category, the immediate and overwhelming impression is so life-like that you expect David Attenborough to start narrating at any moment. Every hair and whisker is in place, every footprint raises a puff of dust. Sometimes, the graphics look so good that your brain struggles to make sense of why they don’t look better (Pride Rock, we learn, is located deep inside the uncanny valley). Other times, the animals are constrained by the boundaries of verisimilitude; forget the original’s Busby Berkeley-like choreography of “I Just Can’t Wait to be King” or the unbridled expressionism of “Hakuna Matata,” because all these hyper-realistic animals can do is walk around their drab environments and fall over each other. (Don’t ask how Zazu the hornbill can speak the Queen’s English even though his beak only moves up and down.) This movie is entertainment bliss for everyone. Overall rating 4.5/5 Story line could have been improved. Parental Guidance : Not at all

Disney could have done better. Everyone who's seen the original Lion King will find this version absolutely MEDIOCRE! The voice acting was mostly pathetic, with exception to Mufasa, done by the legend, James Earl Jones, who also did Mufasa's voice in the original version. John Oliver, Beyonce and Childish Gambino did a decent job as well with Zazu, Nala, and Simba respectively. The dialogues are lacking emotion, the bgm could have been way better, the grandeur and fan fare in the original animated film are totally lost in this version, Rafiki, who was an awesome character, who made us say, "asampe saada, squash banana.." is all but non existent and most of all, I mean the biggest let down, (after Jaffar, in the Aladdin remake), was SCAR! That evil, sophisticated, nonchalant uncle, who Jeremy Irons played to perfection, was an absolute let down. Huge thumbs down to Disney for messing up a legendary film, expected much more than this.

“The Lion King” (2019), a blockbuster that is visually mind-blowing in its photorealistic nature, yet feels oddly soulless compared to the original. Thankfully, there’s plenty of nostalgia to go around, a surefire win for the weekend, perhaps even the king of the summer box office, even if it falls short of the home run that Disney hoped for.The story follows lion cub Simba, who is in line to inherit the throne of his father Mufassa. When his jealous uncle Scar orchestrates Mufassa’s death, Simba flees into the wilderness leaving his uncle to rule in desolation. After meeting a pair of drifters, Timon and Pumbaa, learning from sage baboon Rafiki, and reconnecting with childhood sweetheart Nala, Simba must return home to take his rightful place as king.

The movie is adequate, that's not good enough for this live action though. Lion King is a masterpiece story that has been celebrated for years for its emotional and timeless value. This version falls really short. The voice acting is flat the tone is wrong and there is little to no emotion felt during a very slow boring few hours. The only highlight in my opinion is Seth Rohan and Billy Eisner. Past that? A very forgettable and hollow version of the story.

All the animals throughout the film look amazingly detailed and will definitely amaze everyone watching it. The voice acting has it's ups and downs, the voice actors for Cub Simba, Mufasa, Zazu, Timon, and Pumba really steal the show. But other's like Older Simba, Nala, Scar, Rafiki are just kinda there. the film's story and music are phenomenal, but the original Lion King had already made those.

The original Lion King has always been and will always be my favorite movie of all time. I absolutely loved The Jungle Book remake a few years ago and initially was skeptical about this movie. I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that this movie is definitely worth watching and is epic in its own right. Does it beat the original? I think most people will answer no to that. But only because I believe it comes down to whatever you saw first. For me Michael Keaton will always be Batman, even though one could argue others were better...the Batman that I still go to in my mind is the 1989 Batman. I love the Daniel Craig James Bond movies but when I think of James Bond, Sean Connery comes to my mind first. The same is true with all the remakes… I truly believe it comes down to what came before. It really is depressing all the negative reviews that I read about this movie. If Jon Favreau changed anything from the original people we’re going to hate, if he stuck to what came before people were going to hate… It was a no-win situation from the get go. There are a lot of haters out there that love to hate against Disney and all the success that they have. With the photo realistic lions and animals we knew all along that you were not going to be able to get the emotion out of their faces but I can tell you that there are scenes where you see emotion. In the 2019 Lion King we were never going to see Simba jumping on giraffes heads or animals hoisting each other up to make a tall animal tower… What Jon Favreau went with here is to make realistic animals and make you believe that they could talk with respect to the original, and I believe he succeeded in that regard. All in all, I would not read the negative critical reviews about this movie. Go see it for yourself and make your own judgment. Does the movie look great… Yes it does. Does the movie honor the original but does not try to surpass the original… Yes it does. Jon Favreau even said himself that he wanted to honor the original and I believe the intent was never to beat the original. Some people ask is this movie necessary to make… As one reviewer said, is any movie necessary to make? I believe this movie, Along with the Broadway production, only strengthen the overall global impact of the franchise of The Lion King. So “be prepared “ to be amazed at the visuals, don’t let the negative critical haters steer you away from this movie… And most of all Hakuna Matata

Ashwani posted a review for The Lion King in Movies
The movie had the original soundtrack and the movie was just the same as first but the animals looked sick. I am a movie fan but i was not a fan of this movie. It could have been better and they really could have used the same characters as well from the first movie.
